MP 3513 (UP Livery)
This southbound freight is one of UP's expedited auto and autoparts trains between the upper midwest and Texas or Mexico (via the Laredo gateway). Maintaining MP initials yet wearing UP livery was a short lived practice for a couple years after the 1982 merger of UP, MP and WP. The double track is the former CR mainline (now CSXT) from Indianapolis to St Louis. The MP single track line paralled CR between Altamont and St Elmo. The lines were operated as paired tracks and the southbound connection at St Elmo became a major interchange for run-through trains between the Indianapolis Avon Yard and TX.
